انگلینڈ کی ایک یونیورسٹی میں اس بات کا انکشاف ہوا ہے کہ خواتین کے دل کی بے ترتیب دھڑکن مردوں کی نسبت زیادہ خطرناک ہے- جو خواتین بغیر کسی ظاہری دل کے عضلات کی بیماری میں مبتلا ہوں ان میں دل کا دورہ پڑنے کا خطرہ دوگناہ ہو جاتا ہے- تحقیق سے اس بات کا بھی پتا چلا ہے کہ جن خواتین میں دل کی دھڑکن کا تسلسل کبھی برقرار رہتا ہے اور کبھی تسلسل کا پتہ ہی نہ چلے یا پھر ان کی نبض میں بھی تسلسل برقرار نہ ہو ان کے لیے خطرے کی کوئی بات نہیں ہے- لیکن اگر دھڑکن کا تسلسل مسلسل طور پر غیر مسلسل ہے تو پھر ڈاکٹر سے لازمی طور پر رجو ع کرنا چاہئیے - مسلسل تسلسل کو جانچنے کے لیے کچھ علامات بھی ہیں جیسا کہ سر چکرانا یا پھر سانس کا مختصر ہونا ہے- اس کے علاوہ آرام کی حالت میں بھی دل کی دھڑکن کافی تیز ہو سکتی ہے یعنی کہ فی منٹ میں تقریباً ایک سو مرتبہ

Human brain’s ‘on-off switch’ for human consciousness is even more intriguing than we thought


Last year, scientists from George Washington University published an amazing study arguing that they had found the “on-off switch” to the human brain, a veritable key to consciousness. The researchers found that when they stimulated a particular portion of the brain of a woman with epilepsy, she reliably slipped into a storing, near-catatonic state. When they removed the stimulation, she “awoke” and had no memory of the lapse in time. Called the “claustrum,” this area of the brain is poorly understood — but since the consciousness study, it has unsurprisingly attracted attention from brain researchers.
One study published this month in the journal Consciousness and Cognition may have constrained the realm of possibility for claustrum function, by conducting a study using combat veterans with deep traumatic brain injuries affecting the claustrum. What they found suggests that the prior results showing that stimulation of the claustrum can forcibly sever the brain from the conscious mind may have been due to the peculiarities of that patient, an epileptic who had undergone brain surgery in the past. In their combat veterans, who have a variety of other brain-related injuries in addition to their claustrum damage, the results were quite different.

They found that patients with claustrum lesions have an increased duration, but not frequency, of losing consciousness — showing that the claustrum may be related to regaining, but not ending, the state of active consciousness. That’s important, since the claustrum has been implicated in the maintenance of certain forms of coma and certain forms of dissociation.
The claustrum (technically the claustra, since there’s one per hemisphere) sits near the center of the brain and seems to have a large-scale coordinating function. It receives signals from virtually every portion of the neocortex, looking architecturally not all that unlike the corpus collosum, of A Scanner Darkly fame. In both cases, destruction can lead to truly odd and unsettling psychological effects — could stimulating one little patch of your brain really forcibly disengage the brain’s engine from its drive shaft, leaving a person coasting in an involuntary neutral gear?

As mentioned, the newest research seems to say that, thankfully, the claustrum might not offer that kind of off switch. Patients with permanently damaged brains can sometimes adapt to get lost function out of some other brain structure, however, so it’s possible that people will claustrum lesions (as opposed to reversible electrical stimulation) show different effects.

However, things are more complicated than that. There’s some evidence that the hallucinogenic drug known as salvia may work partially by affecting the claustrum — specifically, inhibition of the kappa-opioid receptors that are so common on its surface. Due to the impossibility of feeding college kids salvia in an ethics-approved study, the academic literature on this is based largely on the self-submitted trip-out reports on sites like Erowid.
If the claustrum does play some large-scale coordinating role in the brain, that could explain why salvia can cause the brain to interpret visual information in such bizarre ways — the parts of the brain that are good at visual tasks aren’t being properly engaged to actually do them. And it might also explain why it’s possible for someone with a damaged or inhibited claustum to receive visual information through the optic nerve, but not consciously see that visual information with the higher brain and snap back to reality.

Francis Crick (of Watson and Crick fame) spent much of his career pushing for continued study of the claustrum, which he believed was the seat of consciousness. We now know that’s not true — people can be quite conscious with their claustrum partially or entirely destroyed. But it may be to be one of the crucial elements in taking the many powerful but limited portions of the brain, and letting them complement each other’s abilities. It’s been called the conductor of the brain’s orchestra.
As scientists begin to understand these systems-level structures in the brain, our understanding of concepts like attention, memory, and perception could change dramatically. And with them, concepts like intention, self-awareness, and self.

The girl who went to Kate and Pippa's school, the £15bn ($22.8bn) Google chief and a romance that has rocked Silicon Valley

A British woman who left London in search of fame and fortune with Google is at the centre of Silicon Valley gossip after striking up a romance with the search engine’s married multi-billionaire founder.
Only last year, Amanda Rosenberg was so friendless after moving to San Francisco that she spoke of eating her lunch alone in the toilets.
But the 27-year-old, who boarded at £31,000-a-year Marlborough College with Princess Eugenie and Kate and Pippa Middleton, certainly seems to  have turned things around – for she was last night named as the new lover of Sergey Brin, 40.
Google has been rocked by talk of the romance, and a spokesman yesterday confirmed that Brin – one of the world’s richest men with a £15billion fortune – has for several months been living apart from his wife of six years Anne Wojcicki, the mother of his two children.
If they divorce, Californian law suggests their massive fortune would have to be halved – although they reportedly signed a strict pre-nuptial agreement.
While the internet was agog with talk of Brin romancing his much younger employee, the Daily Mail tracked down a distinctly unsurprised former boyfriend of Miss Rosenberg – who said she ‘knew the power of her womanly ways’.
Ewan Butler, 28, a trainee teacher living with his parents in Darlington, said: ‘Amanda’s a good looking girl, and she knows she is.
'And she’s good at “playing” men – she played me.’
Brin’s relationship with Rosenberg emerged only yesterday – but the pair were pictured together earlier this year at a New York Fashion Week event, both wearing the controversial Google Glass computerised spectacles for which she is marketing manager.


An employee of Google since she graduated with a communications degree from Leeds University, she initially worked for the internet giant in London before last year moving to San Francisco to work at its Silicon Valley nerve centre.
She soon won a role promoting Google Glass, widely criticised as the glasses which enable users to film and broadcast over the internet everything they see non-stop, worrying privacy campaigners.

سیاچن میں سپاہیوں پر کیا گزرتی ہے



پاکستانی فوج کے تعلقات عامہ کے شعبے کے مطابق دنیا کے بلند ترین محاذ سیاچن پر گذشتہ 30 سالوں میں اب تک پاکستان اور بھارت کے 8000 سے زیادہ فوجی اپنی جانیں گنوا چکے ہیں۔
ان اہلکاروں میں صرف لگ بھگ 400 افراد ایسے ہیں جو گولی کا شکار ہوئے، باقی سب کو شدید موسم نے مار دیا۔ لیکن سیاچن کی جنگ نہ آپریشن ضرب عضب ہے نہ ہی وہاں دہشت گرد موجود ہیں۔ یہاں تک وہ لائن آف کنٹرول بھی نہیں ہے۔ تو پھر اس طرح کے شدید موسمی اثرات میں دونوں ملکوں نے اپنی افواج کے قیمتی سپاہیوں اور جوانوں کو وہاں کیوں تعینات کر رکھا ہے؟
پاکستان میں پہلی بار یہ سوال ، ملک کے فنکارایک تھیئٹر ڈرامے کے ذریعے اٹھا رہے ہیں۔
سیاچن گلیشیئر پر قائم پاکستانی محاذ پر تعینات سپاہیوں کی زندگی پر مبنی اپنی طرز کا ایک انوکھا تھیٹر ڈراما 29 اکتوبر سے اسلام آباد میں پیش کیا جائے گا۔ یہ ڈراما پاکستان کے مشہور ڈراما نگار اور میزبان انور مقصود نے لکھا ہے۔
اسلام آباد میں اس ڈرامے کی تعارفی تقریب میں صحافیوں سے بات کرتے ہوئے انور مقصود نے کہا کہ یہ کھیل موجودہ وقت کا تقاضا ہے۔
’ہمارے ہاں جو بھی فلمیں، ڈاکومینٹریز اور ٹیلیویژن نشریات ہیں، ان میں صرف فوجی افسران کا ذکر ہوتا ہے، مگر میدان جنگ میں سپاہی آگے ہوتے ہیں اور فوجی افسران پیچھے، اور میں نے یہ ڈراما اس لیے لکھا کیونکہ سپاہیوں سے میرا رشتہ بہت پرانا ہے۔‘
لیکن انور مقصود کو سپاہیوں کی یہ کہانی لکھنے میں اتنے سال کیوں لگے؟ جواب میں ان کا برجستہ انداز غالب آیا اور وہ بولے: ’اجازت نہیں تھی، آئی ایس پی آر نے اب اجازت دی اور اب لکھ ڈالا۔‘
انور مقصود کا کہنا ہےکہ اگرچہ اس وقت پاکستان اور بھارت میں کشیدگی کی فضا ہے مگر اس کھیل کو2016 کے ایسے پس منظر میں لکھا گیا ہے جب سیاچن پر دونوں اطراف حالات معمول پر ہیں اوراس کھیل کی بنیادی توجہ پاکستانی سپاہیوں کی سیاچن میں زندگی پر مرکوز کی گئی ہے۔
’اس میں ہندوستان کا ذکر بہت کم ہے ۔اور اس کی وجہ یہ ہے کہ سیاست سے میں اتنی ہی دور ہوں جتنی دور ممنون صاحب صدارت سے ہیں۔ مگر جہاں تک شیو سینا کے حالیہ واویلے کی بات ہے تو مجھے لگتا ہے یہ ایک مرحلہ ہے جسے ختم ہونا ہی ہے۔‘
18 افراد کی ٹیم پر مشتمل اس کھیل کے ہدایت کار داور محمود نے بتایا ہے کہ پاکستانی مسلح افواج کے سپاہیوں کو خراج تحسین پیش کرنے کا یہ پہلا موقع ہے اس لیے یہ انتہائی ضروری تھا کہ ڈرامے کی پوری ٹیم سیاچن میں ان سپاہیوں کے ساتھ کچھ وقت گزارے جن کی عکاسی اس ڈرامے میں کی جائے گی۔
انھوں نے کہا کہ ظاہر ہے کہ ’میتھڈ ایکٹنگ‘ کا یہ طریقہ پاکستانی فوج کے تعاون کے بغیر ممکن نہیں تھا۔ آئی ایس پی آر کے تعاون سے اس کھیل کی پوری ٹیم کو 120دن تک فوجی تربیت دی گئی تھی جس کے بعد وہ 15 روز تک سیاچن میں ایک اگلو یا برف گھر میں رکھا گیا، جہاں انھیں وردیاں، اسلحہ اور فوجی تربیت دی گئی جس نے ڈرامے کے کرداروں میں حقیقت کا رنگ بھرنے کا بھرپور موقع دیا۔
28 سالہ داور محمود پہلے بھی انور مقصود کے تحریر کردہ ڈراموں کو تھیئٹر کا روپ دے چکے ہیں۔ ان کا کہنا ہے کہ اسلام آباد کے تھیئٹر ہال میں ایک تھری ڈی سسٹم پہلی بار متعارف کروایا جا رہا ہے جس کے ذریعے اس کھیل کو پیش کیا جائے گا۔ ’ساتھ ہی ہال میں درجہ حرارت انتہائی کم ہو گا اور کوشش کی جائے گی کہ حاضرین کو ڈراما دیکھتے ہوئے موسم کی اس شدت کا احساس ہو جس میں پاکستانی مسلح افواج کے سپاہی اپنی زندگی کے قیمتی سال گزار دیتے ہیں۔‘
داور محمود کے مطابق پاکستان میں یہ تاثر عام ہے کہ ملک کی مسلح افواج کے بارے میں سب اچھا ہی لکھا اور کہا جائے لیکن انھیں ایک مختلف تجربہ ہوا۔
’پہلی بار آئی ایس پی آر کے دفتر جاتے ہوئے یہی احساس تنگ کرتا رہا کہ کچھ ایسے لوگوں سے تخلیقی بحث کرنے جا رہا ہوں جن کا دور دور تک اس شعبے سے کوئی تعلق نہیں لیکن مجھے یہ حیرانی ہوئی کہ اس شعبے میں تمام افراد تخلیقی صلاحیتوں، شاعرانہ مزاج اور حساس دل کے مالک ہیں۔‘
اس سٹیج پلے کو آئی ایس پی آر اور پاکستان کی ایک نجی موبائل نیٹ ورک کمپنی کا مالی تعاون بھی حاصل ہے۔ یہ کھیل 29 اکتوبر سے 19 نومبر تک پاکستان نیشنل کونسل آف آرٹس اسلام آباد میں پیش کیا جائے گا، جس کے بعد منتظمین اسے کراچی، لاہور، پشاور، ملتان اور فیصل آباد کے علاوہ دبئی اور لندن میں بھی پیش کریں گے۔

کسی مسلمان کو امریکہ کا صدر نہیں بننا چاہیے


امریکہ میں ریپبلکن پارٹی کی جانب سے صدارتی امیدوار بننے کے خواہش مند بین کارسن نے کہا ہے کہ امریکہ کا صدر کسی مسلمان کو نہیں ہونا چاہیے۔

مشہور ٹی وی چینل این بی سی کے پروگرام ’میٹ دی پریس‘ میں بین کارسن کا کہنا تھا وہ اس خیال کی وکالت نہیں کریں گے کہ ’اس قوم کا رکھوالا کسی مسلمان کو بنایا جائے۔ میں اس خیال سے قطعاً اتفاق نہیں کر سکتا۔‘

کئی جائزوں کے مطابق دماغی امراض کے ریٹائرڈ سرجن بین کارسن کو ریپبلکن پارٹی کے کارکنوں میں خاصی حمایت حاصل ہے۔

یاد رہے کہ بین کارسن کے اس بیان سے پہلے ریپبلکن پارٹی کی انتخابی دوڑ میں سب سے زیادہ مضبوط امیدوار سمجھے جانے والے رہنما ڈونلڈ ٹرمپ کو اس وقت شدید تنقید کا سامنا کرنا پڑا تھا جب وہ اپنے ایک حامی کی اس وقت تصحیح کرنے میں ناکام رہے تھے جب اس نے کہا تھا کہ صدر براک اوباما مسلمان ہیں۔

کارکن کی تصحیح نہ کرنے پر ڈونلڈ ٹرمپ کو نہ صرف ڈیموکریٹک پارٹی بلکہ اپنی جماعت کی جانب سے بھی شدید تنقید کا سامنا کرنا پڑا تھا، تاہم ان کا کہنا تھا کہ ’یہ میرا کام نہیں ہے ‘ کہ میں صدر اوباما کا دفاع کروں۔

اتوار کو ارب پتی ڈونلڈ ٹرمپ کے سب سے بڑے مخالف بین کارسن کے ایک ٹی وی انٹرویو میں یہ کہنے کے بعد کہ کوئی مسلمان امریکہ کا صدر نہیں بن سکتا، ان کا یہ بیان امریکہ میں شہ سرخیوں میں پیش کیا جا رہا ہے۔

انٹرویو میں بین کارسن کا مزید کہنا تھا کہ امریکہ کے صدر کے لیے ضروری ہے کہ اس کا مذہب امریکی آئین سے مطابقت رکھتا ہو۔ جب ان سے پوچھا گیا کہ آیا ان کے خیال میں اسلام امریکی آئین سے مطابقت رکھتا ہے تو بین کارسن کا جواب تھا: ’ نہیں۔ مجھے معلوم نہیں۔‘

اس سے قبل گذشتہ ہفتے ڈونلڈ ٹرمپ کو اس وقت شدید تنقید کا سامنا کرنا پڑا تھا جب ان کے سامنے ان کے ایک کارکن نے کہا کہ صدر اوباما ’نہ صرف مسلمان ہیں بلکہ وہ پیدائشی امریکی بھی نہیں۔‘

نہ صرف یہ بلکہ مذکورہ شخص نے ڈونلڈ ٹرمپ کے سامنے یہ بھی کہا کہ ’ ہمیں اس ملک میں ایک مسئلے کا سامنا ہے، اور یہ مسئلہ یہاں رہنے والے مسلمان ہیں۔‘

یاد رہے کہ صدر اوباما ماضی میں کھلے عام اپنے عیسائی ہونے کا اعتراف کر چکے ہیں، لیکن ڈونلڈ ٹرمپ ہمیشہ سے صدر اوباما کے عیسائی ہونے پر شک کا اظہار کرتے رہے ہیں۔

سنہ 2011 میں انھوں نے صدر اوباما کو چیلنج کیا تھا کہ وہ یہ ثابت کرنے کے لیے اپنا سرٹیفیکٹ پیش کریں کہ وہ کینیا میں پیدا نہیں ہوئے تھے۔ اس پر صدر اوباما نے اپنا برتھ سرٹیفیکیٹ دکھایا تھا جس کے مطابق وہ امریکی ریاست ہوائی میں پیدا ہوئے تھے۔

اتوار کو این بی سی پر انٹرویو کے دوران بین کارسن سے بھی پوچھا گیا کہ آیا وہ یقین کرتے ہیں کہ صدر اوباما واقعی امریکہ میں پیدا ہوئے تھے اور وہ مذہب کے لحاظ سے مسیحی ہیں۔

اس پر بین کارسن نے کہا کہ ’ مجھے یقین ہے کہ یہ بات درست ہے۔ میرے پاس کوئی وجہ موجود نہیں کہ میں اوباما کی بات پر شک کروں۔‘

ایک تازہ ترین جائزے کے مطابق ریپبلکن پارٹی میں صدارتی امیدواروں کی دوڑ میں اب بین کارسن تیسرے نمبر پر چلے گئے ہیں جبکہ مشہور کمپیوٹر کپمنی ایچ پی کی سابق سربراہ کارلی فیورینا دوسرے نمبر پر ہیں اور ڈونلڈ ڈرمپ بدستور پہلے نمبر پر ہیں۔

پاکستان فوج کے شعبہ تعلقات عامہ کے مطابق جمعے کی علی الصبح صوبہ خیبر پختونخوا کے دارالحکومت پشاور میں پاکستانی فضائیہ کے کیمپ پر دہشت گردوں نے حملہ کیا۔

آئی ایس پی آر کے مطابق سکیورٹی فورسز کی جوابی کاررائی میں اب تک 13 حملہ آوروں کو ہلاک کر دیا گیا ہے جبکہ فائرنگ کے تبادلے کے دوران زخمی ہونے والے فوجی اہلکاروں کی تعداد دس ہو گئی ہے۔ ان کے مطابق کیمپ میں کلیئرنس آپریشن جاری ہے۔

پاکستان فوج کے شعبہ تعلقات عامہ کے مطابق پشاور کے علاقے بڈھ بیر میں قائم پاکستانی فضائیہ کے کیمپ میں سات سے دس حملہ آوروں نےگارڈ روم پر حملہ کیا اور سات سے دس حملہ آوروں نےسکیورٹی حصار توڑ کر کیمپ میں گھسنے کی کوشش کی۔

آئی ایس پی آر کا کہنا ہے کہ کوئیک ری ایکشن فورس نے وہاں پہنچ کر علاقے کو گھیرے میں لے لیا اور فائرنگ کا تبادلہ جاری ہے جبکہ علاقے کی فضائی نگرانی بھی کی جا رہی ہے۔

پاکستان فوج کے مطابق کوئیک ری ایکشن فورس کی مدد سے کیے جانے والے آپریشن کی سربراہی پشاور بریگیڈ کمانڈ کر رہے ہیں۔

جائے وقوعہ سے ہمارے نامہ نگار عزیزاللہ خان نے بتایا ہے کہ امدادی ادارے ریسکیو 1122 کے اہلکاروں نے اب تک 23 زخمیوں کو سی ایم ایچ اور لیڈی ریڈنگ ہسپتال منتقل کیا ہے۔

پولیس، سکیورٹی فورسز اور ڈیفنس سکیورٹی گارڈز کی ایک بڑی تعداد وہاں موجود ہے جنھوں نے علاقے کو گھیرے میں لیا ہوا ہے اور سرچ آپریشن جاری ہے۔ کچھ دیر قبل تک فائرنگ اور دھماکوں کی آوازیں آرہی تھیں لیکن اس وقت مکمل طور پر خاموشی ہو گئی ہے۔

عینی شاہدین کے مطابق صبح سویرے فائرنگ کی آوازیں سنی گئی تھیں لیکن اس علاقے میں فائرنگ معمول کی بات ہے اس لیے اس پر زیادہ توجہ نہیں دی گئی۔ تاہم جب دھماکوں کا سلسلہ شروع ہوا تو وہاں کے رہائشیوں کو تشویش ہوئی۔

سپرٹنڈنٹ پولیس شاکر بنگش نے بتایا ہے کہ پولیس نے فضائیہ کے کیمپ کے ارد گرد کے علاقے کو گھیرے میں لے لیا ہے۔ جبکہ فضائیہ کے کیمپ کے ارد گرد موجود رہائشی علاقے میں سرچ آپریشن بھی کیا جارہا ہے۔

کالعدم تنظیم تحریک طالبان پاکستان کے ترجمان محمد خراسانی نے اس حملے کی ذمہ داری قبول کر لی ہے۔

دوسری جانب صوبہ خیبر پختونخوا کے صوبائی وزیر اطلاعات مشتاق غنی نے میڈیا سے بات کرتے ہوئے اس واقعہ کی مذمت کی اور بتایا کہ ابھی کیمپ کے اندر کارروائی جاری ہے اور بم ڈسپوزل سکواڈ بھی موجود ہے۔

مشتاق غنی نے اس حملے کو دہشت گردوں کی جانب سے فوجی آپریشن ضرب عضب کا رد عمل قرار دیا ہے۔

صوبائی وزیر اطلاعات کے مطابق اس حملے میں ہونے والے جانی و مالی نقصان کے بارے میں جلد میڈیا کو آگاہ کیا جائےگا۔

وزیراعظم پاکستان محمد نواز شریف نے کیمپ پر حملے کی شدید الفاظ میں مذمت کی ہے اور دہشت گرد کو جڑ سے اکھاڑنے کے عزم کا اعادہ کیا ہے۔

آئی ایس پی آر کے مطابق پاکستانی فوج کے سربراہ جنرل راحیل شریف بھی پشاور پہنچ گئے ہیں جہاں وہ کور ہیڈکوارٹر کا دورہ کرنے کے علاوہ کیمپ میں جاری کلیئرنس ُآپریشن میں ہونے والے زخمیوں سے ملاقات کریں گے۔

واضح رہے کہ پشاور سے تقریباً چھ کلو میٹر دور انقلاب نامی سڑک پر پاکستان فضائیہ کا یہ کیمپ واقع ہے اور 80 کی دہائی میں اسے باقاعدہ طور پر کیمپ کا نام دیا گیا تھا۔

قبائلی علاقوں سے متصل اس علاقے میں ماضی میں بھی پولیس سٹیشن، پولیس چوکیوں اور گرڈ سٹیشن پر متعدد حملے ہو چکے ہیں۔

بھارتی شہری نے بیوی کی یاد میں ایک اور ’’تاج محل‘‘ تعمیر کردیا


 

لکھنئو: بھارتی ریاست اترپردیش میں ایک شخص نے مغل شہنشاہ شاہ جہاں کی طرح اپنی مرحومہ بیوی کی یاد میں ایک تاج محل تعمیر کیا ہے تاکہ اس کی محبت کے جذبے کو بھی دنیا بھر میں یاد رکھا جائے۔

تاج محل کو دنیا بھر میں محبت کی علامت کے طور پر جانا جاتا ہے جسے مغل شہنشاہ شاہ جہاں نے اپنی  ملکہ کی موت کے بعد اس کی یاد میں 1631ء سے 1648 ء کے درمیان بنوایا تھا اسی طرح یوپی کے ایک 80 سالہ شخص فیض الحسن قادری نے اپنی اہلیہ کی یاد میں ایک تاج محل بنوایا ہے یہ تاج محل اصل سے ذرا چھوٹا ہے اورکسی خوبصورت دریا کے کنارے بھی نہیں اور نہ اس میں کندہ کاری کا کام ہے اور نہ یہ قیمتی پتھروں سے مزین ہے البتہ جذبہ وہی ہے جو شاہ جہاں کا تھا یعنی اپنی اہلیہ سے بے پناہ محبت کا۔

آگرہ سے تقریباً 100 میل دور بلند شہر کے ایک چھوٹے سے گاؤں میں واقع اس تاج محل کی تعمیر میں 3 سال کا عرصہ لگا جس میں ریٹائرڈ پوسٹ ماسٹر فیض الحسن کی زندگی بھر کی جمع پونجی خرچ ہوچکی ہے اور یہ رقم  ایک کروڑ 10 لاکھ بھارتی روپے سے زائد ہے۔ فیض الحسن کی اہلیہ 2011 میں انتقال کر گئی تھیں اور  یہ تاج محل ان کی تدفین  کی جگہ بنایا گیا ہے جہاں فیض الحسن نے اپنی محبوب اہلیہ کی قبر کے ساتھ اپنی قبر کے لیے بھی جگہ مختص کررکھی ہے۔

فیض الحسن نے اس تاج محل کی تعمیر کی وجہ بتاتے ہوئے کہا کہ انہوں نے اسے اپنی مرحومہ اہلیہ کی یادمیں بنایا ہے جس کے ساتھ انہوں نے زندگی کے 53 سال گزارے ان کی کوئی اولاد نہیں تھی جس کی وجہ سے ان اہلیہ کو یہ فکر رہتی تھی کہ مرنے کے بعد ہمارا کوئی ذکر بھی نہیں کرے گا، کوئی نام لینے والا نہیں ہوگا۔ اس لیے انہوں نے یہ وعدہ کیا تھا کہ اگر ان کا انتقال مجھ سے پہلے ہوگیا تو وہ ان کے لیے ایسا مقبرہ بنوائیں گے کہ لوگ برسوں یاد رکھیں۔

عمارت پر آنے والی لاگت کی وجہ سے فیض الحسن کو اب مالی مشکلات کا سامنا ہے  کیونکہ ان کا تمام سرمایہ اور جمع پونجی اس کی تعمیر میں خرچ ہوچکی ہے۔ ریاستی حکومت اور بعض افراد کی جانب سے انہیں  اس تاج محل کی تعمیر کے لیے امداد کی بھی پیشکش کی گئی تھی تاہم فیض الحسن نے  کسی سے بھی امداد لینے سے انکار کردیا اوران کا کہنا ہے کہ  یہ کسی کا مزار یا کوئی خانقاہ یا عبادت گاہ نہیں یہ ان کی اہلیہ کا مزار ہے اور اگر وہ کسی سے کوئی پیسہ لے کر اس میں لگاؤں توکہا جائے گا کہ یہ  قبر چندے کی ہے اور وہ نہیں چاہتے کہ ایسا ہو البتہ انہوں نے حکومت سے درخواست کی ہے کہ وہ گاؤں میں موجود اسکول کو تعیلمی بورڈ سے منظور کروائے تاکہ یہاں کہ طالب علموں کا دیرینہ مسئلہ حل ہوسکے۔

جس طرح آگرہ کے قلعے میں قید شاہ جہاں کو تاج محل صاف نظر آتا تھا اسی طرح اپنے کمرے کی کھڑکی سے فیص الحسن بھی اپنا تاج محل دیکھ سکتے ہیں۔ جیسے جیسے اس نئے تاج محل کی خبر پھیل رہی ہے ویسے ویسے آس پاس کے دیہات سے لوگ اسے دیکھنے آنا شروع ہوگئے ہیں اور اترپردیش کے اس دوردراز گاؤں میں شاہ جہاں اور ممتاز محل کی محبت کی طرح ایک اور داستان جنم لے رہی ہے۔

مویشی منڈی ؛ جانوروں کو مصنوعی دانت لگا کر فروخت کرنیوالا گروہ گرفتار


 

کراچی: سپرہائی وے پر قائم ایشیا کی سب سے بڑی مویشی منڈی کی انتظامیہ نے قربانی کے جانوروں کو مصنوعی دانت لگاکر فروخت کرنے والے 10 رکنی گروہ کو پکڑلیا،

مویشی منڈی کی انتظامیہ نے سختی سے بیوپاریوں کو تاکید کی ہے کہ ایسا کوئی بھی جانور منڈی میں فروخت نہ کیا جائے جس کی قربانی جائز نہ ہو، ملزمان کے قبضے سے35 مویشی بھی قبضے میں لے لیے گئے ہیں مویشی منڈی کی انتظامیہ نے ملزمان کو پولیس کے حوالے کردیا، ملزمان کے پاس سے ایک ہزار روپے والے جعلی کرنسی نوٹ بھی موجود تھے جعلساز بیوپاریوں کو دھوکا دے کر جعلی نوٹوں کے ذریعے مویشی خریدرہے تھے، مویشی منڈی کے ایڈمنسٹریٹر رانا عمران نے کہا ہے کہ وہ ہر ممکن کوششیں کررہے ہیں کہ مویشی منڈی میں ایسے عناصر پر نظر رکھی جائے اور جعلسازی کی نگرانی کے لیے ہر بلاک میں چیکنگ کی جارہی ہے.

انھوں نے منڈی میں آنے والے شہریوں سے بھی درخواست کی کہ وہ خریداری سے قبل قربانی کے جانور کا مکمل جائزہ لیں اور اس بات کا اطمینان کرلیں کہ جانور میں مصنوعی سینگ، دانت یا کوئی اور نقص موجود نہ ہو، مصنوعی دانتوں اور سینگوں کو گلو یا چپکنے والی اشیا سے جوڑا جاتا ہے تاہم غور سے دیکھنے پر نقص واضح ہوجاتا ہے کیونکہ جانور کا مسوڑھا نیلا پڑجاتا ہے اور اندازہ ہوجاتا ہے کہ مصنوعی دانت جبڑے سے جوڑے گئے ہیں ۔

اسی طرح انھوں نے بیوپاریوں اور خریداروں سے بھی کہا ہے کہ وہ لین دین کرتے ہوئے خیال رکھیں کوئی بھی شخص جعلی نوٹ سے ادائیگی نہ کررہا ہو انھوں نے عوام اور بیوپاریوں سے اپیل کی کہ وہ منڈی میں ایسی صورتحال پر منڈی انتظامیہ کو فوری آگاہ کریں تاکہ جعلسازی کرنے والے افراد کو پکڑ کر قانون نافذ کرنے والے اداروں کے حوالے کیا جاسکے۔

13 Inventions You Didn’t Know Came From Pakistan


Although Pakistan was only established in August 1947, there is a rich history of science and culture within its borders. From useful computer viruses to a generator that runs entirely on water, Pakistan is the motherland of numerous inventions that have changed the world!

  1. The Brain – Chip Connection

Biomedical engineer and faculty member of the University of Calgary’s Hotchkiss Brain Institute Dr Naweed Syed is the first scientist to successfully connect a silicon chip to the human brain. The silicon chip, which was created in 2004, has lead to a variety of biomedical breakthroughs, including reversing memory loss and helping amputees to control their artificial limbs.

  1. The Pleuroperitoneal Shunt

Dr Syed Amjab Hussein of Peshawar was the first to invent the pleuroperitoneal shunt, a surgically implanted catheter used to treat pleural effusions in cancer patients. Once implanted, the catheter delivers fluid, which has built up between the pleura lining (tissue) and the lungs, to the periloneal cavity where it can be absorbed. Once this treatment has been administered patients are usually able to breathe much more easily. Following his invention, Dr Syed Amjab Hussein was inducted into the Medical Mission Hall Of Fame.

  1. The Ommaya Reservoir

Created by Ayub K. Ommaya, a Pakistani neurosurgeon in 1963, the Ommaya Reservoir allows chemicals to be injected into the brain, via a catheter, to treat brain tumors, leukemia and leptomeningeal disease.

  1. The Human Development Index

In 1990, Mahbub-ul-Haq revolutionised economics with the creation of The Human Development Index. According to Mahbub-ul-Haq, the sole purpose of the index was “to shift the focus of development economics from national income accounting to people centered policies.” That is, the HDI focuses on the health, education and living standards of areas to measure development, not on the amount of income.

  1. Higgs Boson

Whilst working with Steven Weinberg, the first Pakistani Nobel Prize winner Professor Abdus Salam predicted the existence of the Higgs Boson subatomic particle.

  1. The SMB Probe

As far as dangerous energy sources go, nuclear power has to be one of, if not the most dangerous of all. Since it’s creation, nuclear power has created multiple disasters around the globe, causing many deaths and toxic environments. In an attempt to counteract this problem, Sultan Bashiruddin Mehmood created the SMB Probe which is thought to reduce the chance of a nuclear disaster by a significant amount. The SMB Probe’s job is to keep power plant operations under control and check whether there are any heavy water leakages, thereby reducing the possibility of accidents.

  1. ( c) Brain

In January 1986, the Farooq Alvi brothers invented the world’s first virus for MS-DOS. Born in Lahoor, the brothers created ( c) Brain , a virus that infiltrates the boot sector of storage media and is still used widely today to prevent hacking and identify piracy.

  1. The Water Generator

Rehan Aziz Farooqi, an engineer from Swat, invented a generator that can not only run on water, but can also allow any engine – whether it’s diesel, gas or petrol – to run on water as well. The generator works by separating the hydrogen and oxygen found in water and converting them into viable energy source. As hydrogen is extremely explosive however, the generator’s inventor wants to ensure there are no dangers before making it available to the public.

  1. Community Sanitation

For many third-world countries, the risk of contracting deadly diseases due to poor sanitation is a huge problem. In an attempt to lower these risks, Professor of Sustainable Infrastructure at Loughborough University Sohail Khan invented a lavatory that transforms human waste into minerals that can be used to enrich soil. The facility also processes water to ensure it is clean and consumable.

  1. The World’s Cheapest Electricity

Shahzaib Hussain, a seventeen-year-old from Quetta, created a device that can be used to reproduce electricity when he was only in Grade 11. The device was first proven to work when Shahzaib managed to light 44 LED lights that would usually require 3 Watts with only 1.5 Watts that were fed through his machine. The device is currently still in it’s prototype stage, but could lead to huge developments in the near future.

  1. The Anti-Terrorist Algorithm

At Startup Cup Pakistan last year, a startup named Go-Fig Solutions dominated the media’s attention. Go-Fig Solutions had created an algorithm that claimed to be able to predict where the next terrorist attack would occur, simply based off of behavioural patterns and data mining. After the algorithm received a success rate of 35%, Go-Fig Solutions won the World Startup Cup.

  1. Non-Explosive Fertilizer

Pakistani firm Fatima Fertilizers has invented a formula for fertilizers that do not contain ammonium nitrate, thus cannot be used to create bombs. Since it’s creation, the fertilizer has been praised by the Pentagon, with US Army Lieutenant General Michael Barbero, the head of the Pentagon’s Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization stating: ‘such a long-term solution would be a true scientific breakthrough.’

  1. The Sagar Veena

Whilst working at the Sanjannagar Institute, Lahore in 1970, Raza Aslam created the Sagar Veena, a string instrument capable of registering a range of pitches that no other instrument can achieve. Although there are already a variety of string instruments used in North Indian Classical Music, the Sagar Veena is unique in its ability to provide a rich array of notes.

Pakistanis won’t give in to anti-state elements: PM


ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that people of Pakistan had stood up against the anti-state elements threatening not only the lives of innocent people but the very fabric of nation.

“Pakistan is resolved to redeem its pledge given to its founding fathers that it will protect the homeland.
We are also committed to preserve and ensure freedom, equality and social justice as core values of our polity as desired by our enlightened forbears,” he said in his message to the nation on Pakistan Day being celebrated today.

The prime minster said three quarters of a century had elapsed since the Muslims of subcontinent irreversibly resolved to seek their own independent state.
Their revered Quaid-e-Azam, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, declared that Muslims of South Asia were an independent nation by any definition.
He led them to wage a struggle for a state based on principles of social justice, self-determination and equality.

He said the independence struggle witnessed countless vicissitudes but the Quaid never flinched from his avowed objective.
He said with his firm commitment and wholeheartedly backed by the Muslim nation, the Quaid ultimately succeeded in carving out an independent homeland.
The father of the nation bequeathed to his people the promised land with the exhortation to preserve and protect it for future generations.

PM Nawaz Sharif said three quarters of a century later, Quaid’s Pakistan was groping to overcome unprecedented threats and challenges.
The peace loving people of Pakistan are unwittingly exposed to threats posed by extremism and terrorism and Pakistan had been subjected to an existential threat that it has no option but to confront, he said.

The Premier said he was a steadfast believer in permanence of morality based representative plurality envisaged by the Quaid.
He also greatly valued the equality principle and considered it vital for national preservation.

“I am a formidable opponent of anachronistic notions of obscurantism and consider it harmful to our national existence.
I am confident that with the valued assistance of our valiant armed forces, unconditionally supported by the entire array of political opinion, we will surely overpower heartening forces,” he observed.

He expressed his confidence that Pakistan had turned a new leaf in its existence and would soon be able to overcome all odds.
“My government has embarked upon a vast portfolio of institutional and development ventures that will bear fruit in near future,” he said.

The prime minister expressed his resolve to the nation that under his watch, no effort would be spared to bring tolerance and harmony in Pakistan.
“I am committed to ensure that Pakistanis are provided with every opportunity to live freely, seek education, gain employment and practice their faith without hindrance, fear and favour,” he remarked.

Meanwhile, the authorities have adopted strict security measures for the conventional military parade - part of the Pakistan Day celebrations - which is going to be held today after a gap of seven years at the newly constructed parade ground near Faizabad Interchange here.
Mobile phone services will remain suspended in the twin cities from 6:00 in morning to 2:00 afternoon today (Monday) due to security reasons.
According to Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, the decision is part of the security arrangements for the parade.

The conventional military parade is being held under extraordinary security blanket.
Earlier in the day, full dress rehearsal of the parade was held at the newly constructed parade ground.
Around 1,200 policemen will perform duty to secure the avenue and 20 closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras will monitor the parade.
According to a notification issued by the ICT administration, all seminaries, shrines and other business activity falling within 2-kilometer radius of the parade zone will remain closed till Tuesday.

Islamabad Traffic Police have also formulated a special plan to deal with the traffic in the areas adjacent to the parade avenue; Faizabad, Express Highway and Zero-Point.
Islamabad Expressway will remain closed for all kind of heavy traffic from Sunday midnight to Monday noon and only those having invitation for the parade would be allowed to move towards the avenue.

Local police are on high alert ahead of the parade and conducted special checking at the main entry and exit points of the capital.
The local police with the help of other security agencies’ personnel conducted search in the area of Golra and arrested 20 suspects on Sunday.
They also recovered 10 kilashinkovs and dozens of 9mm pistols from the accused.

The Rawalpindi city administration has also taken special security measures so that the parade does not face any security threat.
Rawalpindi Police erected special check posts at the city points leading to the Expressway and subsequently the parade avenue.
City traffic police also chalked out a comprehensive traffic plan to ensure smooth traffic flow in the city on the occasion of the military parade.

Stop Letting Other People Define You

When I talk to friends and relatives about their kids, I always underestimate the kids' ages. "How old are Leo and Maxine now?" I ask, "seven and nine?"

"They're nine and eleven," is the answer.

"How did they get so big so fast?" I wonder.

My own kids grow up like beanstalks right before my eyes. It is hard to take it in. My eldest will graduate from college in a few months.

She is about to give her senior recital. Your head spins thinking about it. Didn't she just graduate from kindergarten not long ago?

Life is all about change. Children bring those changes to the forefront. That is one of the great things about kids. As adults we can get into ruts very easily. We forget that to evolve and grow as people, we have to change. We have to accept changes instead of avoiding them.

Getting used to changes and learning to ride the waves like a surfer is the principal life skill, but we don't teach it in school. We teach kids about columns and rows and tell them "You'll grow up, get a job, get married and get a car. End of story!"

We don't tell them how to read the weather patterns and be on the lookout for shifts in the wind. We don't teach them how to grab a wave and ride it.

We don't teach kids that we will keep growing and evolving until we die. We'll grow new muscles and get battle scars. We finish school and then the real education begins!

A static state is not good for us, but we want things to stay the same. Our muscles atrophy when we don't use them. When we fall into the classic rut working at the same job, making the same commute, and grappling with the same problems for years on end we wither on the vine. That's when we get really fearful.

We think that it would kill us to lose the unexciting job because we're used to it. We forget the feeling of air on our faces. We forget what living in the moment feels like.

Mother Nature wants things to change. We see that in the seasons, and in the weather - especially here in Colorado! There are mounds of snow everywhere you look and it's sixty-eight degrees outside. Maybe it will snow again this weekend, or rain. Oh well! That is the weather.

There will be signs that will tell you when Mother Nature wants you in a bigger box. There are signals that will first whisper and then shout at you "Something has to change!"

When you are ready to burst out of your old box and into a new, expanded one, you will get messages. At first they'll be small signals. If you ignore those, the signals will get louder.

One of the signals you'll get from Mother Nature when you are evolving is a tap on the shoulder. It might happen like this.

You'll be at work and you'll hear one of your workmates say about you -- or say right to your face: "Mike, you're the greatest. Thank you for being such a great support guy. You are so great with customers. You're my favorite customer service rep."

That's when you'll feel Mother Nature tapping you. Wow, you'll think -- that's how you see me?

Nothing against customer service reps, because companies live and die by their customer service and those jobs are not easy, but - dang! I've been working with you for four years as a product specialist. I do so many things here but you still see me as your friendly customer service rep.

I push big projects through when no one else does. I get on the phone with your customers when you haven't told them diddly about how the product works, and I take them through demos to get them excited about the product and get them to buy. And you say "You're a great customer service rep."

Why do people limit you and tell you what you are, when their impression may be just a small piece of what you bring? Why do people want to define you?

People cannot always see what you bring. That includes your boss, your co-workers and even, God bless them, your family members. They can't see you as you are now.

People see you stuck in the past sometimes, the way a far-away observer with a very good telescope could look at earth through the telescope right now and see Neanderthals hunting caribou.

It is the coziness of the people around you with the person they think they know, the old version of you, that can easily keep you stuck in an old shell long after you've outgrown it. Like everyone else, you are a hermit crab. You need a bigger shell every now and then.

People around you will try to keep you the way they like you. They may have a hard time with the idea that you want to make changes. If you accept someone else's definition for yourself just to please them, Mother Nature will have something to say.

Eventually the tap on the shoulder or the whisper in your ear will turn to a hard shove or the sound of a freight train. You're going to get the message one way or another.

It's no good to let other people define you. You don't fit into a box, no matter how much the box-makers love you or say they do. If they love the wrong you, can we still say they love you? They love the person they want you to be -- a very different prospect.

People will put your into tidy small boxes that make them comfortable. Your changes and your growth challenge other people to rise up and change, too. Your expanding possibilities hold up a mirror in front of their faces. Not everyone wants to look.

Don't get defensive when someone -- your boss, for instance -- tries to put boundaries around you. The more fearful your boss is, the more likely he or she is to try and define and thus limit you.

You can talk about it. You can be adult and professional, compassionate and earnest all at the same time.

You can speak your truth at work about the most important topic of all -- your forward path. We are all learning to talk about our paths.

We are learning to stay in our bodies and stay human at work, even when our fearful brain says "But what if your boss doesn't like what you say?"

BOSS: So Margie, I saw you in the inventory meeting. How did it go?

YOU: It was good. The big issue is that our product numbering system doesn't support the new inventory system. The inventory system is obviously the smart way to go, so the crushing reality is that we have to re-number the products internally. It's going to be a big job. It's going to be gnarly, but it has to happen - growing pains, I guess.

BOSS: Database hell.

YOU: Yes, but the high-altitude question on that is "Do we give the products intelligent product numbers that fit into a hierarchy, so that if you see a particular product number you can figure out what the product is by decoding the number -- or give them random numbers and save ourselves the hassle of creating a big, hairy, consistent logical numbering scheme over time?"

BOSS: So in other words, if you put an M in the product number for all mobile products, and a D for desktop -- that sort of thing?

YOU: Exactly. If you do that, you can figure out what a product is just by seeing the number, but then you buy yourself the headache of having to come up with new categories all the time and keep everything consistent - and with all the new products we're launching!

BOSS: Well, it's an interesting puzzle. You know what, that's a great question for the IT folks. You're my Inventory Coordinator. Just make sure the reports are accurate and I'll be happy.

YOU: Can I ask you a question about that?

BOSS: Sure, what?

YOU: I heard you say that you want me to make sure the inventory reports are accurate, and I definitely understand why you do. I take the inventory reports very seriously. You haven't seen a problem with my reports, have you? I would be concerned if you had.

BOSS: No, I just mean, that's your job description.

YOU: I understand. Do you feel uncomfortable that I'm helping IT and Marketing to build the new product numbering system? I want to make sure that you and I are in synch.

BOSS: Well, honestly, I don't know why you need to be involved in that. You've got a different job.

YOU: Thanks for sharing that. I appreciate it. I want to make sure that I work on the stuff that's important to you. I can back out of the product numbering project if you like. We should talk about my role and my roadmap at some point. I'd love to sit down with you and make sure we're aligned on that.

BOSS: What do you mean?

YOU: Well, I think you're happy with my work -- this is my understanding -

BOSS: Yes, definitely.

YOU: And I want to keep learning. I want to keep growing. I see that I can make more of a contribution, the more I know about the company and about business in general, the more people I know and the more I see how the pieces fit together.

BOSS: Okay. Let's meet about that. I guess I was hasty. Go ahead and work on the product numbering scheme. I'll be interested to see how that turns out.

Who gets to define you? Only one person does, and that person is you. The best you can do is to listen for the signals Mother Nature sends you and follow them the best you can. That's all any of us can do.

When people box you in you can accept the little box and try to stay snug in it. Alternatively, you can decide to figure out who you are by pushing against every barrier you find -- starting with the ones you've built yourself.

7 Signals That Someone Is About to Quit

When it comes to career categories full of people who are prone to quitting, few can match either consulting or high tech. Since I spent the bulk of my career in those two worlds, I’ve learned a few things about resignations along the way.

The reasons why people are apt to quit consulting and high tech are well-documented. In the world of consulting the reason is often too much travel. As any road warrior knows, business travel can be interesting in the beginning but it gets old very fast. Not to mention how it cuts into the social life of a young person. Then there is the pressure of billable time and the stress of project completion. As one young person told me when she was quitting, “There are easier ways to earn a living.”

The high tech world is full of people quitting because those same people have so many opportunities. Where there are lots of choices for more money, there is lots of quitting.

Having accepted so many resignations, there are a few things I’ve learned along the way. Here are just a few:

  • If someone wants to meet on a Friday afternoon and says, “It will only take five minutes,” assume that person is about to quit. It’s better not to wait until Friday; get it over with.
  • Team engagement can be measured in the number of emails sent. Anyone with email production that drops in a big way is losing interest and will quit soon.
  • Anyone who does not want to participate in interviewing candidates means they don’t want to try to sell someone on an organization they will soon be leaving. It won’t be long.
  • When family and personal photos start to disappear gradually from the workspace, a letter of resignation will soon follow.
  • The person who takes “personal time off” but never for an entire day is probably interviewing. That is the colleague who takes half days off or says, “I am going to be a little late” is not long for his or her current work world.
  • Those people standing in the hall or the bathroom on their cellphone may not be chatting with Mom. The call might be an iPhone interview. (But could also be a sign they are ending a relationship, which might be even worse.)
  • Absence from the company holiday party or annual picnic might not be that important, but it could mean too that a quitter is developing. Or maybe not.

Of course, there are some very definitive signals that leave no doubt about imminent departures. Spouse transfers and winning lottery tickets might be the top two.

I’ve learned too that if someone quits, it is useless to try to talk that person into staying. In many ways a resignation is like a romantic breakup. When your boyfriend or girlfriend says, “I don’t love you anymore,” responding with “Yes you do!” doesn’t make a lot of sense. The same is true in a resignation situation.

The first time I resigned from a job I was a nervous wreck. My speech was prepared, and I went into the resignation meeting with a list of things that needed to be done after I left. It was like a list you would hand a neighbor when you're about to go on vacation. There was no need, I left and, shockingly, they did just fine without me.

There is no disgrace in submitting a resignation. It happens a million times every day. Make it a short meeting, don’t look back, don’t burn any bridges, and get excited about the next big thing.
