There was a time when gowns weren’t a piece of clothing which the Indians could associate themselves with. It’s the Bollywood industry which made it popular, red carpet appearances, award functions and all! Go Figure! On a different note, what makes the gown a favourite among Indian women is the fact that it makes them look slimmer, shapelier and helps to hide the imperfections.
For a long time, Brides too have been fascinated with this garment and love to adorn it for their cocktail events. The bonus here lies in the fact that Indian gowns can boast of embellishments and other ornate stuff. Although, different gown styles have different names and every women must be familiar with them. So here it goes -
1) Sheath
It is straight cut and as the name suggests, it sheaths the body tightly. Great choice to flaunt that well toned figure.
2) Fish Cut
This is again a straight silhouette till the mid thigh or the calf area and then flares at the knees.
3) Trumpet
Just as the name tells us, it look likes a trumpet – it’s a fitted piece and then flares at the knees. You can’t afford to take long strides while wearing it, unless you want to trip over and end up breaking something!
4) A – Line
It has a straight flare, minus the pleats as it reaches the ankles. It is the most common choice of every Indian woman, as it resembles an Anarkali.
5) Empire
It is similar to the A-line gown, just that it has a raised waistline. It’s the best pick for woman who have heavy hips.
